Three days before the murder of Aleksey Mozgovoy, Kremlin managers declared and justified the demise or closing of the "project Novorossiya" as they called it

On May 20, Gazeta.ru published an exclusive material under the title "Project of Novorossiya Is Closed." The article consisted of a series of interviews with the highest post-Strelkov "leadership" of what can be called "Minsk Yes! No to Novorossiya!" Among those interviewed was also clearly Alexander Boroday, a man who cannot help smiling whenever (and that's very often) he thinks of how cunning and smart he is. Most of the political and other leaders of the DPR and the LPR that are being curated out of existence chose to be quoted for the article anonymously with the exception of Alexander Kofman, DPR Foreign Minister. All the people were declaring the death of Novorossiya, which they said, actually happened months ago or at least by August 2014 or with Minsk 1 (September 5, 2014), but they did not want to show their faces or names in doing so (except for Kofman).

This pseudo-collective belated declaration of the "death" of Novorossiya set the stage for the shortly after following attack on and liquidation of Mozgovoy, the very symbol of Novorosssiya. (After the Soviet Union showed so much honor, firmness, and determination in defeating Nazism in WWII, one would have thought that these qualities would never be so squandered or depleted ... oh, well ...)

Here are the highlights of the Donbass "leaders" shaming and dishonoring themselves, while basking in their own immoral and amoral baseness:

DPR Foreign Minister Alexander Kofman admitted that the efforts of the Kiev authorities to suppress the pro-Russian sentiment in the southern regions of Ukraine met with success, the Project New Russia is closed due to the fact that the official Kiev [the fascists] appeared to have successfully suppressed Novorossiya supporters in Kharkov and Odessa.

Kofman said that the [pro-Novorssiya] protests started too early [too early?? for whom??]: "We [who?] were not able to restrain the population at the demonstrations, and  the supporters in other regions, in Odessa, Kharkov, also rose up before they should have."

"As a result, more than 40 of our guys were killed in Odessa, many activists were arrested in Kharkov, and the republic to be established in these regions became deprived of leaders. Therefore, Project "New Russia" has been closed for some time now and will remain so until a new political elite capable of leading the movement will emerge in all of these regions will grow "- wrote Kofman on his Facebook page.In a conversation with "Gazetoy.Ru" Kofman chose to modify his words, noting that these statements do not refer to the political prospects for the DPR and the LPR : "I said that in the other republics potential leaders of resistance were destroyed. And further prospect of New Russia is closed for an indefinite period." ...One of the current most influential functionaries in the DPR in a conversation with "Gazetoy.Ru" argued that the plan to unite several regions of Ukraine under the name of Novorossiya went out of control already by May 11, 2014...."In August [of 2014--already!!!], Tsarev was banned from the [Russian] media. A number of people [this included above all Strelkov] who worked for Novorossiya were removed from the work," said a source close to the Kremlin circles. Many co-chairs of Tzarev's People's Front of New Russia began rapidly leaving the movement.Tsarev led the Joint Parliament of Novorossia formed from deputies of the LPR and the DPR. But during the elections in the republics on 2 November 2014, this organization turned out to be no longer needed--against expectations, new representatives were not delegated there. the Parliament of Novorossiya and other similar projects were shut down.Our source said that after the September 2014 Minsk Agreement, the symbol of New Russia  ceased to be necessary in the eyes of the [Russian] authorities. A new, opposite problem emerged--how to integrate the DPR and the LPR back into Ukraine, and how not to increase the territory controlled by the separatists. "As a result, Tsar and everyone connected with Novorossiya became no longer needed"

Although New Russia was unnecessary political technology project, by inertia it continues to drag a trail of minor events in its wake, such as the presentation of the anthem, the flag and others."Oleg (Tsarev) then sensed that, in the fall [of 2014] there would be a new project concerning humanitarian aid and refugees, and so he became actively engaged in these issues. But, instead,  projects in political management such as the Center for Strategic Planning, which had not yet been exhausted, were created. As a result, Tsarev announced the final closing of of New Russia belatedly only now, in late May of 2015. We should have talked about [closing Novorossiya] right after the New Year [when Bednov was killed]," concluded the source."

ДНР Александр Кофман признал, что усилия киевских властей по подавлению пророссийских настроений в южных регионах Украины увенчались успехом: «Проект «Новороссия» закрыт из-за того, что его сторонники в Харькове и Одессе оказались успешно подавлены официальным Киевом».
Кофман заявил, что народные волнения начались слишком рано: «Мы не смогли удержать население на митингах, раньше положенного поднялись и наши сторонники в других регионах — в Одессе, Харькове».
«В результате более 40 наших ребят погибли в Одессе, многие активисты были арестованы в Харькове, а республики, которые предполагалось создать в этих регионах, оказались обезглавлены. Поэтому проект «Новороссия» закрыт на какое-то время — до тех пор, пока во всех этих регионах вырастет новая политическая элита, способная возглавить движение», — написал Кофман на своей странице в фейсбуке.
В разговоре с «Газетой.Ru» Кофман предпочел уточнить свои слова, отметив, что политических перспектив ДНР и ЛНР эти заявления не касаются: «Было сказано, что в прочих потенциальных республиках уничтожены лидеры сопротивления. И развитие Новороссии дальше закрыто на неопределенное время». ...

Один из влиятельных функционеров в ДНР в разговоре с «Газетой.Ru» приводит версию, согласно который план объединить под брендом «Новороссия» несколько регионов Украины, вышел из-под контроля еще 11 мая 2014 года.

«В августе на Царева ставят блок в СМИ. Был отстранен от работы ряд людей, лоббировавших проект», — отмечает источник из околокремлевского центра. «Народный фронт «Новороссии» Царева стали стремительно покидать многочисленные сопредседатели.
Курируемый им Объединенный парламент Новороссии формировался из депутатов ЛНР и ДНР. Но во время выборов в республиках 2 ноября 2014 года структура оказалась невостребованной: ожидаемого делегирования представителей не произошло. Парламент и прочие похожие проекты были свернуты.
По словам источника, после сентябрьских минских соглашений Новороссия как символ перестала быть нужной в глазах властей. Появилась обратная задача — интегрировать ДНР и ЛНР в состав Украины, а не увеличивать территорию, подконтрольную сепаратистам. «Соответственно, Царев и все, что с ним связано, оказалось невостребованным».
Хотя «Новороссия» оказалась ненужным политтехнологическим проектом, по инерции она продолжала тянуть за собой шлейф малозначительных событий, таких как презентация гимна, флага и др.
«У Олега (Царева) тогда было ощущение, что осенью будет новый проект по гуманитарке и беженцам, он активно занимался этими проблемами. Вместо этого осенью были созданы «не выгоревшие» политтехнологические проекты вроде Центра стратегического планирования. В итоге об окончательной заморозке проекта «Новороссия» Царев сказал в этом мае с опозданием. Надо было говорить об этом сразу после Нового года», — заключает собеседник.
