Principles of Novorossiya, Zakharchenko's Statement at His Big Press Conference and the Ostracized, Suppressed Novorossiyans

On December 26, 2015, Aleksander Zakharchenko conducted a smaller version of what Putin tried to accomplish with his latest mega press conference on a bigger scale, being able only to reaffirm his [Putin's] faith in the neo-colonial economic and financial policies of his government and the Central Bank, his tautology of the presumed innocence and impunity of his oligarchic cronies, their crimes, and their children and the necessity of people's paying ever more through new levies, fees, and taxes for the pleasures, plunders and incompetence of Russian neo-colonial oligarchs.

Aleksander Zakharchenko started off in Donbass at first on the side that caught and arrested Pavel Gubarev (as the well known video on Youtube shows). He then formed along with Khodarkovsky one of the Akmetov battalions whose first task was the protection of the oligarch's assets from the revolutionary "mob." During the unexpected arrival of Strelkov and his heroic soldiers from Slavyansk in early July of 2014, there were reports that Khodarkovsky and Zakharchenko were itching to open fire on them in order to protect the then planned surrender of Donetsk. In some cases, Zakharchenko then rendered his voice and authority to the ongoing Surkovian/Kremlin campaign for blackening and discrediting Igor Strelkov, the original and principled leader of the Novorossiya uprising. Still, in comparison with Plotnitsky and unlike Plotnitsky, Zakharchenko comes out overall as a man who did not publicly tie himself to the murder of some of the best national heroes such as Aleksander Bednov (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wbmh_KKOBH4) A number of Novorossiya "idealists" and anti-Minsk patriots have been imprisoned and persecuted, but/and this "self-injury borderline personality disorder" (destroying the best of one's own) has been an old problem, which keeps coming back.

Of course, Zakharchenko was handled a difficult position. The Kremlin forced him to sign Minsk 1 and 2 which, with Plotnitsky, he was presented as a done deal (just what happened to Czechoslovak President Benes during the Munich Dictate in September of 1938). Moreover, they were also made to sign Minsk 1 as the only ones without any titles, which were thus effectively unrecognized and denied to them. During the night long sitting seance which produced Minsk 2 (in February of 2015), Zakharchenko and Plotnitsky were held away in a separate building. Even letting them into one and the same building was deemed impolite and improper. In Munich, a Czech Ambassador was similarly kept in an antechamber like a lackey.

However, the main point of this article lies right now in something else. The very second question, which Zakharchenko received, was about the "ideology" of Donbass (or Novorossiya, which was not mentioned though). As we know, Russia's colonial constitution written by American experts and presented then as a child A. Sobchak, Putin's mentor, and the late Nemtsov, forbids Russia, defeated in the Cold War, to have any ideology. For most part, Surkov did in this regard a very good job--producing several simulacra of "ideology" (i.e., "sovereign democracy," while laughing all his way to Hell), in reality, several PR and Potemkin villages campaigns, while trying to extinguish the oligarchic elite to have any hefty or deeper ideas or a capacity for them.

Zakharchenko's response to the question about the political principles (let's call it this way) of Novorosssiya was proper and well considered. He formulated them as follows:
1. Freedom (Svoboda)
2. Justice (Spravedlivost) as the "corner stone of the soul" (indeed)
3. Conscience (Sovest)
4. Equality (Ravenstvo)

As Zakharchenko pointed out, the first letters of these principles/ideas form the acronym of the USSR (Soyuz Sovyetskih Socialistichiskih Respublik—SSSR or CCCP)—Svoboda, Spravedlivost, Sovest, Ravenstvo. Indeed, these principles were also the mighty promise, ideal and power that turned Russia for several decades into a world-historical and world-history-making power, and as long as these principles and ideas served as the main inspiration and faith, the USSR was also invincible and great. And when these principles and faith in them were abandoned, betrayed and discarded, the USSR too lost its soul, its vitality, and its historical purpose.

In this regard, Zakharchenko also correctly pointed out that by declaring and espousing these principles and ideas does not mean returning or recreating the USSR, as we knew it. The USSR was the given historical form marked by the time and the conditions of its making. Moreover, rebirth is not the same as remaking, copying, or recycling. Realization of principles differs—very significantly—from copying principles. And Novorossiya cannot be a copy. It is a call for genuine rebirth.

In his answer, and against the Surkovian claims made in the opening movie shown at the beginning of the conference, which (mis)presented Minsk 2 “as the great diplomatic victory” and the phoney ceasefire as the main achievement of 2015, which “we wanted most,” Zakharchenko identified the formulation of these foundational principles as “the main victory” that has been achieved.

Part of the question about the ideology of Donbass (Novorossiya) included a sub-question about the origins or sources of these principles and ideas. Zakharchenko talked about the people of Donbass, and especially noted children of Donbass as those who brought up the idea of conscience.

The fact is that what Zakharchenko stated here was already formulated here by someone whom I happened to know as Vladimir Suchan who, in turn, was observing the unfolding struggle for Novorossiya and reflecting especially on the thoughts formulated by Aleksey Mozgovoy and on the clues offered by the struggle.

Principles and ideas don’t recognize ownership. It is up to the mind and the soul to recognize them and to recognize their power and truth. To “have” principles means to become awakened to them, to understand them, to stand up for them and to mean it. Seriously and truly.

Still the acknowledgment and pedigree of the process and the struggle (in defiance and against hostile campaigns of the friends and fans of “Russian” mafia-oligarchy and its idols) in which these perennial ideas and principles were uncovered and resurrected does play its role and matters.

See and judge for yourself (especially the first one):
