While the Kremlin
beholden to its oligarchic spirit, interests, and instincts no longer even
fakes any whimper over fascist de-Sovietization (Nazification) of Ukraine, it
also makes sure and does all it can to remove the remaining traces of A. Mozgovoy and to make a ghost
out of his Ghost Brigade.
The situation with Mozgovoy's Brigade Prizrak, which embodied the idea of Novorosssiya and made it inspiration for the whole world, might not be final final, but the decision to put it out of existence appears to have been made, and now we can see few feeble attempts at damage control after the decision from January 6 did get noticed and was covered in the social media.
These reactions also made more clear the mechanism used to contain the Brigade besides the removal of the famous Aleksey Mozgovoy himself on May 23, 2015. In the "republics" which signed away their status as such in Minsk 1 and Minsk 2, making them compatible with and safe for Minsk--restoration of Kiev sovereignty--has been carried out in the name of "order" and "discipline" and the formation of "a true army"--one which is not allowed to fire back or to fight. Under these new special rules, Moscow via the command of the corps decreed that Brigade Ghost could be only a "territorial battalion" with an arbitrary set ceiling of just over 200 soldiers, which is not really a battalion, but at best only half a battalion or two companies. For a long time, Prizrak (Ghost) tried to cope with this situation by sharing payments meant for some 200 soldiers with another 550 who continued to serve and were no longer officially listed with the corps or Plotnitsky and company. This also meant that Brigade Prizrak was effectively frozen and contained. On January 6, the decision was made according to which the 550 or soldiers are finally dismissed and forced out, and the remaining part is to be absorbed into some of the other existing formations.
Evgeny Krizhin, 2nd Lieutenant at 3-d DPR Guard Infantry Brigade, wrote the best possible spin on the situation from the point of view of the Kremlin-approved policies:
"Естественно, эта ситуация рано или поздно должна была разрешиться тем или иным образом. Судя по тому, что в сети поднимается шум - ИМХО, ситуацию разрулить и договориться до варианта, устраивающего руководство Луганской республики, не удалось, в том числе и по причинам идейности - ровно по таким же причинам стрелковцев в своё время распихивали по разным подразделениям, дабы не случилось смуты. Независимо от моего отношения к Алексею Борисовичу, да и вообще к идейным людям на этой войне - мне жаль, если всё пройдёт по озвученному в сети сценарию с переподчинением батальона территориальной обороны 2-му АК и разоружению заштатников. Как ни крути - "Призрак" держал достаточно большой участок фронта, имея неплохо обученный и дисциплинированный личный состав."
"Naturally, this situation [with Ghost Brigade] had to be resolved one way or another sooner or later. But because fuss has been raised on the social media, IMHO, resolving the situation in a way pleasing the leadership of the Lugansk Republic has failed in part because of ideology, and exactly for the same reasons the Strelkov fighters were once dispersed among different departments in order to prevent their revolt. Regardless of my attitude toward to Alexei Borisovich [Mozgovoy] and, in fact, to the people led by the idea [of Novorossisya] in this war, I'm sorry if it has to come down to the scenario announced on the social media, involving transfer of the territorial defense battalion [Ghost Brigade] to the 2nd Army Corps [some call it Minsk 1 and 2 divisions] and disarmament of the soldiers who were not officially part of the staff. Like it or not - Ghost Brigade keeping a large enough section of the front [Krizhin started off his post with downplaying the importance of the brigade] and had well trained and DISCIPLINED personnel [in the name of discipline it is being terminated]."
The above makes it clear that the fundamental sin of Ghost Brigade was its categorical and unconditional devotion to the idea of Novorossiya and the principled resistance to fascism and oligarchy--just as with its commander Aleksey Mozgovoy himself.
When political leaders/commanders of the soldiers are thieves, oligarchs, and rats what else one can expect? They hate people with principles and ideas.
As the Ukrainian fascists don't want to be reminded of any Soviet names (much like Russian oligarchs, by the way)--thus trying to rename the too-Soviet sounding names of the 900 towns in Ukraine--Surkov's people don't want to be reminded of the original spirit and idea of Novorossiya either. Thus the elimination of Mozgovoy, Dremov, Bednov, Ischenko ... and the shutting down of Prizrak.
The reported disbanding of Mozgovoy's Brigade Prizrak adds to the series of the gradual removal and elimination of all the living symbols of Novorossiya.
Did anyone think that they would kill Mozgovoy and let his brigade be? After waiting for a while (for the dust and attention to settle down), and trying to keep as inconspicuous as possible, as of January 6, the brigade no longer exists. Moreover, most of its soldiers were kicked out.
It is symptomatic that pro-Putin fans did not dare to make even a peep about this--much like in other similar cases.
Removing the last living symbols of Novorossiya so that Donbass can be "normalized"--read: Nazified. Russia's national policy moved from Mole to Botox and from Botox back to Mole.

В Луганской Народной Республике — очередные процессы перестройки. На этот раз штаб Народной милиции принял решение о вхождении батальонов территориальной обороны в состав своего корпуса.
Раньше «бтро» находились в оперативном подчинении у штаба. С одной стороны, для многих бойцов этот порядок был комфортнее за счет сохранения «ополченческой вольницы», своеобразной независимости. С другой стороны, со снабжением у батальонов территориальной обороны было хуже, чем у военных Народной милиции.
И вот 6 января состоялось совещание, на котором были оглашены следующие решения: 2 из пяти бтро входят в состав 2-й бригады НМ ЛНР, еще 2 — в состав 4-й бригады. 15-й бтро «Брянка» входит в состав казачьего 6-го полка имени Платова (так называемого «дремовского»). Но удивительнее всего оказалась судьба, отведенная знаменитой бригаде «Призрак» имени Алексея Мозгового. Ее решили… подсократить. То есть, оставить 260 человек из бригады, которые позднее на правах батальона территориальной обороны войдут в корпус Народной милиции, а остальных 550 добровольцев «отпустить». Для самих же офицеров «Призрака» уже вроде как приготовлены хорошие, ответственные должности.
«Призрак» — это вообще удивительное явление, которое существует, кажется, вопреки всем законам капиталистической логики. Свыше восьмисот добровольцев из разных стран пришли сражаться за идею. Идею Новороссии, которую уже миллион раз успели провозгласить утопическим, несбыточным проектом. Так, впрочем, говорят поначалу про любой крупный проект.
Можно предположить, что никакого переформирования не будет: скорее уж «Призрак» разойдется в полном составе. Нет, войной на Луганск не пойдет: доставлять украинским партнерам такую радость они не будут. Но и разделяться не станут.
В связи с этим — несколько вопросов:
1. Почему молчит и никак не комментирует происходящее руководство ОМБР «Призрак»?
2. Как могут прокомментировать данную информацию в штабе Народной милиции?
3. Зачем на пороге нового витка войны ВЫГОНЯТЬ свыше полутысячи обученных, идейных бойцов?
На данный момент «Призрак» находится в оперативном подчинении штабу корпуса Народной милиции. При этом взаимодействуют они вполне эффективно.
