When pathetic leaders send great people to war and death ... how do they relate?

When leaders have to spend more than few minutes in the sun and in the public eye, their faces and their control mechanisms start giving in and their faces start showing a state of mind that is normally to stay concealed and guarded. And that's what was bit by bit happening at the official ceremony to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy, France, on June 6, 2014.

So an observer watching a bit of these official ceremonies was treated to rather new peculiar sightings: Hollande of France looked bored (what happened to his mistress?); Obama tried to look dictatorial or, at least, imperial with all the Roman gravitas (which he lacks) he could master. But he was chewing a gum while being treated to the images of Nazi horrors or the heroic and epic battles of the allies against fascism. NATO soldiers were cast as actors playing both sides ... or all the sides on a schematic map of Europe. 

Only Putin looks stern and, together with the World War II veterans, appears to be one of the few political dignitaries who actually understand the meaning of the history that is being showed.
