Helsinki FINAL ACT of 1975--40 years after or How the USSR planned its death without even faking it

Knowing the finale or the actual political results and consequences of Helsinki FINAL Act of 1975, I can now--on its 40th anniversary--and some 30 years after finally correctly answer the question I was once asked by a professor at a state exam in June of 1985, which concerned the meaning of this very FINAL ACT and its relation to the fact that the US managed to deprive the USSR of a peace treaty with Germany and Japan after World War II. Back then listening to me, the professor said that "I did not understand what it was about," but he himself refused to say anything more, explain or elaborate.

So, now, here is my retake: Helsinki Final Act of 1975, which also begot OSCE and the agenda of human rights, which played a key role in the demise of the world socialist system and the USSR, was a result of the long negotiated "wish of the Soviet Union and USA to end the Cold War"--but, and this is absolutely important--fully on the terms and conditions of the US and the West. The Final Act, the detente and the Helsinki "process" meant to facilitate and secure a gradual soft (as much as possible) landing of the USSR and its Eastern bloc and its holdings in half of the world in the death of the system and in the lap of the West. The Helsinki Process was part of the negotiating death, inversion, and U-turn enacted by the Soviet leaders--carefully, cautiously (at first and for some time), but also deliberately and decisively.

In a word, Helsinki FINAL ACT was the start of the Final Act of the system's self-demise and self-dismantlement, which, indeed, ended just 14-16 years later. In this, the Helsinki Process worked precisely as intended. It is thus also of some "historical justice" that OSCE plays such a role in the West-attempted (and Russia-approved) Minsk process, which is meant to place in the end the heroically resisting people of Donbass and its Cossacks back into the lap of the revived Nazism and its current Ukrainian "Banderstaat." It is thus also very symbolic that it was also the very same Finland which now effectively excluded on the 40th anniversary Russia from the OSCE assembly.

Number 40 is symbolic. Among other things, it is believed that, after the person's death, he remains for 40 days in a transit of limbo. In the case of a state, 40 years do seem more suitable than 40 days in the case of a person ...

However painful and unjust it is, one cannot fail to see that the US, and by extension the West, not only exerted Titanic efforts to deny the USSR "all the fruits" of its WWII victory (i.e., a peace treaty), but, ever since 1945, tried to change the results of World War II (which made the USSR a superpower) in such a way that would put (several decades later) the USSR into a position of a defeated (and even nonexistent) state and bring back Nazism as the Empire's new force of choice. In this, both the Soviet and Russian leaderships played "dialectically" their part both in terms of resistance and collaboration.

The fact that this 70-year old story was composed as a drama made of several acts (and somewhat evoking Hamlet) indicates that its authors combined science (game theory, economics, etc.) and intelligence operations with old fashioned liberal arts, including "the art of writing."

Otherwise, this post was born rather spontaneously and very simply. I woke up and he first thing I saw was a post by Peter Iiskola which I fully reproduce here:

The détente in Europe was born in Helsinki Final Act 1975 and it became OSCE in 1992, but was efficiently liquidated in the very same place 40 years later. This was not clumsiness or a mistake, but deliberate ringing of the bells for conflict and war – the dead-ringer or bell-ringer was the Finnish neoconservative president Sauli Niinistö. This says Peter Iiskola, a former Finnish diplomat and judge, who has served in UN, Council of Europe and Iran-USA arbitration in The Hague. Détente is now replaced by a New Cold War, which can slip to a real war. This diplomatic end for the détente is much thanks to the cowardice decision of the Finnish president Sauli Niinistö to refuse Russia from OSCE. He did obey the U.S. neoconservative war mongering politics to hunt Russia down by going to a crusade against Russia. He did it against the opinion of the vast majority of the Finnish people. This cowardice example of Niinistö can encourage other leaders, who are now uncertain, and it might lead to a negative chain reaction, or “domino-effect”, to promote conflict and war. This is in sharp contrast to the Finnish president Urho Kekkonen in 1975. He managed successfully and after great diplomatic efforts to create an opposite chain reaction for peace. This did put an end to the Cold War between East and West by the creation of OSCE (until 1992 it was CSCE). Of course, Kekkonen’s efforts were successful only because the presidents Leonid Brezhnev and Gerald Ford supported Kekkonen. They needed and found in Kekkonen a reliable “matchmaker”. Ironically, Niinistö is the U.S. messenger and dead-ringer of the bells for conflict and war. He made a diplomatically very clumsy, but deliberate, decision on the OSCE 40th anniversary. After pressure from U.S. and European neoconservatives under Barack Obama, he refused the Russian participation. This diplomatic sign serves as a serious warning bell which is tolling for conflict and war. The Finnish people are certainly not supporting this. The people will force Niinistö out of office, if not earlier, then at the next elections in 2018. 1. Why to put the blame only on the Finnish president Sauli Niinistö? - It is fully justified, because Niinistö made alone the cowardice decision, as much as Urho Kekkonen made alone the brave decision - against all odds – to be the engine behind détente and CSCE-OSCE. 2. Is the decision to freeze Russia from OSCE so crucial? - Yes, because this is a reflection of the growing cowardice in Europe, where smaller countries are abandoning their own interests and obey the U.S. neoconservative war mongers or their supporters in EU. 3. Is this not to overdramatize the situation? - No, because the détente was born mainly through the wish of Soviet Union and USA to end the Cold War, but all this is now liquidated. Just be now prepared for war, if you can read the diplomatic signs because "War is the continuation of diplomacy and politics by other means". The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is the world's largest security-oriented intergovernmental organization with members States. The OSCE is concerned with early warning, conflict prevention, crisis management, and post-conflict rehabilitation. Its 57 participating states are located in the Northern Hemisphere. Its mandate includes issues such as arms control and the promotion of human rights, freedom of the press and fair elections.

Oh, no, "we" don't want Russia to truly defend herself or her interest or the Russians in Donbass, for it is "exactly what the West wants ..."

"[To support] stronger military action on the part of Russia and Donbass which is exactly what the American neocons such as Nuland want, so wittingly or otherwise you are pushing their cause. They want Russia pictured as the aggressor so they can re-arm Europe."

This is a by now well now Western spread meme (hypnotic insinuation) propagated through the social media, but also pushed by the Kremlin, which based on no evidence and no logic. But, if one cares to actually read and listen to what Western leaders and neocons do say and write on their own (as opposed to the social media bots), is the opposite: as weak Russia's response and defense is possible, which, ideally, would be as little as possible, hence ultimately none. Otherwise, Russia has already been pictured by the West as an aggressor anyway. The West always feared most Russia's possible determination and resolution--one that was displayed in Crimea. So the West did all it could (including the use of its assets on both sides) to make sure that this would never happen again. If the West wanted an all-out war, it would have already started over Crimea or just make and use some other excuse (MH 17 false flag or much anything else).

Putin's and Lavrov's Minsk "Cunning Strategy" (Plan A, the illusion," and "there is no other plan") is like the story of Kelly (P+L) and Kaa (the Empire)

The Empire is like an anaconda--it is systematically tightening its grip around Russia ever since 1991 for, the policy of containment was more of a seduction, hypnotizing teaser for the Soviet leadership, which did work. 

However, with Minsk 1 and 2, it is perhaps the first time in history when a whole country, a whole leadership and a proclaimed chess genius, took on themselves the coils of the anaconda willingly--as "the only plan they have," as "the only solution," having refused to consider or develop any other option or alternative.

As a minimum, the leaders in Moscow could and should at least hold some basic moral position and principles, but even that they seem to be unable and unwilling to do. 

As a minimum, they could and should make war on corruption and put all their efforts into a creating their own independent financial and economic system; but, no, they are not much into that either. 

When your leader's best buddy is someone like Berlusconi, the air of morality and principles, which was supposed to keep a bedazzling halo around his head,  quickly evaporates and makes much of so otherwise cherished illusions and debates mute and hollow.

Thus, also unnoticed and ignored by many went the recent stunning exchange at rt.com CrossTalk, which spelled out the unpronounceable for the believers firmly entranced and squeezed by the Empire's Leviathan and its display of Hegelian false opposites: Mark Sleboda correctly asserted that Minsk, the Kremlin-avowed one, sole and only Plan, Moscow's Plan A, has been and is an illusion. Babic, a senior propagandist, replied in defense: "There is no Plan B." The other person on the panel tried to argue feebly that the plan is working though.

The fact that Russia's "own strategy" (or the lack of it, which is almost the same thing here) and the US own systematic strategy employed since 1991 is based on the model of a python-like grip, squeezing, infolding, enveloping and slow and gradual, ever systematically progressing devouring of the mesmerized and ever so feebly "concerned" victim comes out well from the way in which the notorious Nuland describes it:

Anti-Russian sanctions will tighten if Moscow fails to honor the Minsk accords, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland has said. That will definitely happen, she said in an interview with Ekho Moskvy radio, answering a related question. Nuland added that the sanctions would stay in place until the complete fulfillment of the Minsk agreements, including restoration of Ukrainian sovereignty over all borders and withdrawal of Russian armaments and troops from the Ukrainian territory. The sanctions will be lifted, with the exception of Crimea, after the Minsk accords are fully implemented, Nuland emphasized.The assistant secretary added that the pressure would grow ...

So when it comes to Russia's Ukrainian policy and is Putin's and Lavrov's embrace of Minsk 1 and 2, it is also possible to say that Minsk 1 and 2 has also "embraced" Putin and Lavrov  and, through them, also Donbass and Russia herself. But this seemingly mutual embrace does not mean that everyone is doing the embracing in the same way and with the same status and end result. 

So, to make the obvious even more obvious, having embraced Minsk 1 and 2 (and much else besides), Putin and Lavrov are like Kelly from this story presented by Deviant Art:

What would have happened if the US had a 200,000 (or 100,000) hostile anti-American army operating 400 miles from Washington D.C. or just along the border of the US and killing and torturing Americans?

Now, 25 years after the USSR was dissolved by an unconstitutional act of a few apparatchiks, Russia is faced on its borders and 400 miles from Moscow with a very hostile Nazi-led anti-Russian 100,000-200,000 army killing and torturing Russians. Moreover, the army and its regime are leaving no doubt that they are seeing themselves at war with Russia and the Russians. In addition, Ukraine is being Nazified and mobilized as an anti-Russian war machine.

For almost all these 25 years, Russia did nothing of note against the spread and rise of Nazism in this once leading Soviet republic and limited itself to business deal with the incredibly corrupt, immoral, kleptocratic and increasingly anti-Russian oligarchs. What is stunning in this respect that, in Moscow, no one has been held responsible for this colossal neglect, acquiescence and even still ongoing support for these rabid anti-Russian, fascist forces. No one even acknowledged any responsibility in this regard. In fact, the opposite--a massive, fully armed and completely and openly hostile anti-Russian force just 400 miles from the Red Square is, according to the propagandistic assurances, not more than a result and confirmation of the superhuman genius, which allowed all this to happen.

Just a little weather forecast

The NFA August 2014 offensive saved the DPR and the LPR from the jaws of defeat and destruction. Minsk 1 saved the Nazi regime from a decisive defeat and thus it saved for Kiev the war itself and also its very regime. Minsk 2 is but Minsk 1 reloaded after Kiev's failed winter offensive. As a result (that is much because) of all this cunning and cleverness, the Nazi regime has consolidated itself; from May 2014 on even the Kremlin legitimized it.

The Ukrainian army (consisting mainly of Ukrainian Russians) has no longer any issue with killing either civilians or anti-fascist Russians. Moreover, it has also taught itself how to fight the new war and is now a fully capable and combat ready army for which Ukrainian oligarchs and the West are a better deal than what the Russian liberal government represents to them--ideologically, politically, or even morally--as far as they are concerned.

The Nazi war machine has behind itself all the still great, existing and fully functioning authority, support, and intelligence of the best funded and richest Empire in the history of mankind. And there is no functional (as opposed to dysfunctional, isolated, and wandering ) organized communist force of a fully mobilized state and all its powers to stand up against as in 1941.

Moscow's insistence that the armed forces of Novorossiya (which, as an entity Moscow does not recognize even as a national liberation movement) fight or ought to fight merely for some administrative entitlements or a promise of local reforms and vague adjustments (Putin: "Nothing special," in fact) and for resumption of social payments falsifies and dumps/dumbs down the cause of the war, what is at stake, and what is defended and fought for.

If the current trends and dynamic are to continue without major re-calibration, Russia's current liberal, right-wing government will be soon either negotiating or directly implementing some kind of Minsk or "revolution of dignity" for Russia itself.

My translation of Mozgovoy's poem No. 19

It is now absolutely clear that Alexey Mozgovoy was not only a great Novorossiya commander and leader. He was and will also remain a poet. But he was not just a poet, he was and is also a prophetic poet. But it is now also absolutely clear that he was and thus will also remain a visionary and, as such, one of among the first founding fathers of Novorossiya. This third translation--third poem of his, which I coincidentally translated on the 40th day following his death (when, as they wise say, the soul passes from death's antechamber into the Eternal Light), confirms this:

How my time met Eternity’s part

My time has passed away

Into the deep river’s banks.

The black-eyed night and gypsy

Came and stole my golden stapes.

With three birches I got lost,

Without fear, without thought,

And so my time, that dream,

Is now where the endless starts.

There the universe keeps its heart

With my gypsy and her lasting night.

My translation of Mozgovoy's poem No. 18

It so happened that this and the previous poem ("To Mother") were coincidentally translated by me on the 40th day since Mozgovoy's death on May 23, which happens to be the holiday of Vladimir according to the Czech calendar.

As this daemon of this poem says, Mozgovoy's fate was a life of a soldier and fighter, but his life was also a bridge--from one Russia (a Russia of new dead souls) to Novorossiya, a Russia New and Arisen. Russian reborn. Mozgovoy's own personal and physical life is now over. This personal life has become ashes in the steppes of Cossacks' Don. Spiritually, Mozgovoy has, however, become a fire of Novorossiya--the light that illuminates the road ahead.

Burning bridges

When the bridges are burned,

The watercourse stays and separates

The two disjointed shores.

Only the wind is moaning a complaint,

Still we are trying to find a ford

In the streams of time bygone.

But one cannot enter any river twice,

And there is so much of what divides.

Fate’s bridges do thus burn,
